Design and Development capabilities:
The highly specialised engineering team at Dynamic Boosting systems Ltd is dedicated to delivering systems utilising the company’s innovative and patented technology. This has been developed at DBS to meet the growing needs of clean and green technologies worldwide.
Turbomachinery
-
DBS has developed over 20 test rigs and prototypes.
- DBS maintains a state-of-the-art purpose built test facility, consisting of bespoke instrumentation for accurately measuring mass flow, pressure, temperature, vibration, noise levels and power consumption.
-
DBS employs the latest computer aided engineering tools such as finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics and parametric solid modelling to develop systems and products.
-
DBS develops and maintains its own software code-base for low specific speed turbomachine design and testing.
- DBS has developed the capability to dynamically balance turbomachine prototypes in-house.
In addition, DBS has close links with City University London, which is providing additional facilities with a YAG laser Doppler anemometry instrumentation setup for detailed flow measurements, validation of computational models and optimizations of compressor geometry.
Electric Machines
- DBS’ in-house expertise is based on the founders’ experience of over 30 years of research and development as well as design and manufacture of high speed electrical machines. The founders hold over 20 patents for high-speed, radial and axial flux type permanent magnet machines. In 2009, DBS commenced the design and manufacture of bespoke brushless DC motors to directly drive the TurboClaw® compressor and overcome the cost, performance, and availability limitations of existing off-the-shelf equipment.
- DBS assembles its own motors from externally manufactured components, to ensure a quality product at competitive prices.
Electronics
- DBS designs and manufactures its own electronic circuits for motor control, system control and instrumentation. These enable the TurboClaw® compressor systems to be matched precisely to customer requirements with minimal additional integration effort required by the customer. DBS has experience of designing for automotive requirements including the selection of appropriate components for these more demanding applications. The control software is also developed in house and can be readily tailored to customer requirements.
